Is an owner allowed to legally share the tenants credit report and credit application to a buyer once an agreement of sale is signed. I believe it is illegal, but am looking for clarification one way or the other. Please include your source of information.

Matt.. what does the tenants release for you to check originally say?

NO! You are NOT allowed to share any information obtained from a credit report. Not with the Tenant or buyer. Those records you keep and do not turn over....IF the buyer uses the information the wrong way or they don't keep it locked up, you will be 100% liable and subject to fines... --47.156.xx.xx |

Interesting question. I never received credit reports when buying buildings. One building I bought they gave me the applications and leases (if any), one building they gave me the leases (many of which weren't fully executed with missing signatures or information). --24.61.xxx.xx |
