I have 4 ,5 crisper pans that cracked some part of the pan (all for the same type of fridge).. A new one costs like $45 - $60 and sooner or later, the tenant will crack it.

I am thinking of applying epoxy glue with fiberglass cloth to re-enforce it. Does anyone have a better idea to fuse 2 piece of 1/16" thin hard plastic together?

Has anyone tried a product called Fiberfix rigid patch? --73.16.xxx.xxx

Duct tape might do it but cover with clear packaging tape so the threads do not stick to the tomatoe skins or anything else. I have tried epoxy on car door panels but in the cold it often cracks - tried using just dots of epoxy but same results, You have to take a sample to determine if it is acetate or poly plastic - poly can be heat welded - acetate can be solvent welded. --76.188.xxx.xx

I am cheap, but not that cheap. I'd buy a new one. Bill the previous tenant for the damage if there is any security deposit left.

I'd be concerned of the caliber of tenant who would move into a home with the crisper pan repaired with duct tape. Around here, perfectly functional fridges with all of their crisper pans intact can be purchased used for $200. Or scratch and dent new from Lowes for not much more. Minus 40% for the taxes you will save, makes it a no brainer for me. --98.13.xx.x

if anyone worried about paying 45 one time for something that one time had to be replaced probably too close to the margin. really. would YOU rent a place that has a crisper fixed with duct tape or any other half a$$ed way ? put yourself in your renters position. --97.94.xxx.xx

My deli tray (the drawer in the French door refrigerator) is fixed with clear tape. Yea, I wasn't going to spend $100 for a new drawer when tape will hold the cracks from getting worse for quite a while. Use clear (maybe white) on the outside of the drawer. --96.236.xx.xx

OK Elliott, skip the fabric tape, use just the clear packaging tape, Just yesterday for the eclipse party there were kids at my step daughters place climbing up the fridge drawers to reach the popsikles in the freezer so it is gonna happen just as quick as the eclipse. --76.188.xxx.xx

Unfortunately my caliber of tenants (most C level) will ruin the brand new crisper pan and gaskets in less than 2 years.. not all of them, but I don't know who will..

It just seems silly to replace the cheap plastic crisper pans every 2-3 years..

I am going to try the strongest clear tape in store and give it a try. --73.16.xxx.xxx

The answer is that you must avoid this type of tenant. An In home visit at screening would work better than anything else.

Anyone who breaks crisper(you really have to go out of your way and work at it) will tear up everything else too. You cant make money repairing and replacing everything they will damage.

Let guess, they are judgement proof? --72.172.xxx.xx

This happens when they pull the drawer out to get something, don't push it back in and shut the door. Might be something to go over with tenant at move-in. Explain proper operation of refrigerator. Also advise cost to replace the plastic bin if it is broken. --40.133.xxx.xxx

Used appliances stores usually have huge inventory of parts including crispers. I have a been a customer of used appliances for many years and now I shop free for may things that I need. I have picked up racks for stoves, shelves for refrigerators etc.You may even purchase some parts for a very reasonable price. --99.62.xxx.xxx
