Most NJ towns have ordinances against this. The owners might get around this by putting a car cover on the car and noting the plate # outside the cover for an easy drive by observance. If the Police issue a summons your tenants will figure it out and may retaliate. Good luck. --73.195.xxx.xxx

vehicles parked outside are in public view . I wouldn't lose any sleep over having police ticket and/or tow their cars. "shame, these cops are so aggressive these days"

or just warn them they should do something about it as police are very aggressive. Do it without the NJ "hey it would be a shame if the police knew aobut these vehicles" lol --12.156.xxx.xx

what's wrong with a phone call, a note on their doors and also on the cars. "Unregistered/unlicensed vehicles are not permitted on the premises. Vehicles will be towed at owner's expense on or after 8:00 a.m. August 28, 2017."

then call the tow truck. --72.95.xx.x

Do you allow them to apply the security deposit towards the ELT, or do you require them pay ELT upfront first, then return security deposit as normal?> --12.156.xxx.xx

I agree with Nicole.

Just tell them it's against city ordinances and also your lease( hopefully it's in there!)

Then follow through on your word.

We've had to do this before because sometimes they have no $$ to fix or get those cars moving OR pay the tags. They're not going to tell you that. 6 vehicles!! When they move out and still have no money do you think they will take those with them them?

Message:

It should be in your lease that all vehicles must have current plates, current state inspection certificate, insurance, and be operable or they will be towed at owners expense. Then call any tow company and as the owner of the property, request they remove the vehicle from your property. If the tennent wants his car back, he will have to call the tow company and make arrangements. You only have to do it once. They will learn quickly. --100.4.xx.xx
