Many of my teni arrive with just suit cases. I need to have a trove of dressers, beds, desks and chairs waiting.
I've been spring cleaning the shacks.
It is interesting how entertainment centers are completely unwanted, along with big furniture. Teni have become very specific as to what they like and don't like.
Because I'm not in tune with an Iphone Ifurniture teni, I've decided to clear it all out and not risk turning somebody away with a flower pattern & plaid curtain and pillow set.
I've even taken to using Repose Gray....a hideously boring color which seems to win approval despite my condescending views.
Are there other things I'm missing? Anything come to mind?
I want my teni to be happy and comfortable. Advice is always welcome.

Why not have a field trip to your local rent-a-center and see what they're offering these days?
If you're feeling particularly daring, you can have a field trip to your local IKEA. If anyone talks bad about your furnishings, you can look at them and tell them coolly, "Oh. It came from Ikea, you know." And then they'll fall into line and appreciate it properly. Because no one wants to be that uncool. ;)
But me, I'd probably go to my local Habitat store and pick up some basics and call it "vintage", and maybe do a paint/stain project to spiff it up a little.
The old stuff is much more solid than a lot of the new stuff. Just got finished going bureau-dresser shopping to replace a really solid piece that lasted through my mom and her three sibs; me and my three sibs; and about eight years' worth of my two kids, before it finally needed to go. We also needed to get rid of the cheapie $100 dresser from 20 years ago. :) But when I started shopping, I found what would have been a cheapie $100 dresser 20 years ago was now a $300 dresser. You had to pay, like, $900 to get something substantial. But I couldn't fathom paying $1800 for two pieces of bedroom furniture for a 5yo and an 8yo. DH ended up finding a place that was going out of business and sold the stuff on closeout, so we got a decent matched pair of dressers for $300 total. --96.46.xxx.xx |

Basic is in vogue now, get a universal tv mount mounted and let the put in whatever size they have or like, I prewire my shacks so rg6 comes out in each bedroom, dining, living room - the labeled wires go in the laundry or furnace room, 1 hole wonder for the cable guy. --76.188.xxx.xx |

You can't GIVE those huge entertainment centers away these days. Even charity shops won't take them.
Think about what used to be held in those things: Giant heavy TVs, stereo with speakers, VCR, all those videotapes, etc.
Every bit of entertainment hardware needed today is in their Iphones and Ipads.
I've noticed people want big beds though. --173.22.xx.xx |

Funny you should mention beds. I wrestled a full size higher quality bed yesterday. Soft flexy mattress that is impossible to carry because it has all the characteristics of spaghetti noodles and weights in like a heavy weight boxer.
I thought, I should stick to just twin size beds. But beds are tough, if you have a good one ya need to keep it.
I contemplated buying beds but sent that idea to the curb. Moving beds is pretty rare and normally the situation really works to my benefit. (Person needs to rent a room for $600 but needs help with a bed)

We are always behind the fashion times. We picked up a craftman style oak entertainment center for a song a few years ago. Now whenever we have friends over who have gone to the flatscreen tv over the low cabinet, they say essentially, "Wow,look at all that storage space. That blasted cabinet top in my house is full of junk that I don't have a place to store!" --71.175.xxx.xx |
