The room is a converted garage...concrete floors. There were raccoons under the roof. New drop ceiling installed all the nasty insulation removed but the odor remains. Is there something that I can use to get rid of it? --67.142.xxx.xxx

Raccoon poo is a very bad smell. It has no doubt soaked into the wooden beams holding up the roof. Beams and other wood should have been sprayed with something and then painted to encapsulate. --73.33.xxx.xxx

Get an ozone machine - turn it on for several hours. Don't rely on a cheap one...I paid around $250 for mine on ebay and it has saved me on several occasions already! You may be able to rent one. I was truly shocked at the difference in a unit that had probably about 75 piles of dog poop smeared all over the carpets, moldy food left out, cat urine, etc. The unit almost made me cry. By the time I had the carpets cleaned (I always have them Scotch-guarded between tenants), and put the machine in there for a several hours, the smells were all but gone. Next tenant was also going to be hard on the flooring - but I was able to get another run out of the carpets without replacement by using that machine! Good luck! --69.130.xxx.xxx

I forgot to mention - if it is urine on a hard surface, like wood, get one of the black light urine detector kits at your local pet store - found with the cat urine removers. The black light shows you where the stains are. Then spray the area with with an enzymatic cleaner, let dry and apply polyurethane spray paint which will seal in the odor. I had a similar problem with cat urine on a hard wood floor. New tenant allergic. No problems once I took all those steps. And, as a side note, I had to offer a guarantee to the new tenant that the odor would not re-emerge, or she could get out of her lease. No issues! Woot! Woot! --69.130.xxx.xxx

Ozone hardly gets going in just 1 day, get a cord so you can just open the door and let the place air out an hour or so - the machine will prolly be there a week. during the years that smoking was routine in bars and restaurants ozone machine stayed on all day and night, imagine a place without, well maybe you had wandered into one sometime ago. --76.188.xxx.xx

I would spray enzymes all along the rafters and run ozone machine for several days and then go from there. --71.55.xxx.xx

Sounds like an ozone generator is the way to go. Thank you all for your suggestions! --67.142.xxx.xxx
