I have a city that is brutally harassing me over an overgrown, empty lot of mine. The lot has little value, has been mowed and they they are doing their best to hammer me to the fullest on it.

I'm thinking of finding a person who, frankly doesn't give a hoot, likely impoverished, and paying them few hundred dollars to have them take the deed and while doing so, I would fully explain to them that the city will be mad with them, etc. Doing so would then force the city to mow the lot for years and eventually have to foreclose on and then continue to maintain it, until they would struggle to liquidate it. Their costs would easy hit 5k over this time.

Should I have any guilt about doing this? I wouldn't hide anything to the person taking the property and would pay them to do so, while removing myself from this mess.

The other idea, putting it into a trust....

thoughts, ideas?

thanks 1m.

I have done something similar,I was paid to take a partially burned out property and then put it on craigslist and gave it away to get it out of my name, when the city figures out the new owner has no assets or ability to deal with it they will drop the whole situation because he has nothing for them to take.If you are honest with the buyer why should you feel guilty about anything, the buyer may have a good reason to want the lot.Maybe a neighbor would want it for parking, put it on craigslist as a trade and ask what they have to offer, may get a vehicle in trade that you could sell and make a few bucks on it --24.25.xxx.xxx

Why don't you just keep it clean and maybe a neighbor will ask about it and add it to their property or perhaps the city will buy it and create some parking there. Could you create a parking lot there for any reason? --73.33.xxx.xxx

so....you wanna stick it to the City, eh?

Sounds like fun.

Donate it for the use og a homeless encampment.

Google Lakewood NJ "Tent City" and see if that gives you any ideas. while doing a good deed, perhaps a tax write-off AND the satisfaction of walking away with clean hands a and a gleam in your eye.

Good luck with your decision --173.63.xx.xx

On our large duplex fire, we donated it to Habitat for Humanity. We weren't worried about publicity, but we did enjoy a VERY nice tax credit, less worry, city and officials don't give Habitat hard time about messy lots. --216.49.xxx.xx

I once sold a vacant house to a homeless person no money down because the city was harassing me. He made payments but ended abandoning himself a few years later. I don't feel the least bit guilty.

You can donate the land to a church or charity. Nice right off for you and something free for them. --96.236.xxx.xxx

SID and I are trying to get together for lunch. You might want to join us. You have both our numbers. Give us a call.

SID had some problems with a couple of his tax sale properties and hopefully I was able to give him some advice to soften the blow, and as he said he has talked to the city attorney which puts him a leg up on some of these problems.

I also have been having proplems with my "city". I went the route of hiring an attorney. This guy said he has sued your city more times than any other attorney in the city. I am assuming its the city you live in now and not the one up north.

If you would like join for lunch if we can work out the details of when to meet.

I just got on this side of the state tonight (7-23-17 about 10:30 pm) and have to go back East Wednesday but will be back again the following week.
