I believe it was NE who mentioned investing in dead towns. I am not sure who posted but they mentioned a Cracker plant going in to treat natural gas after it comes up from being fracted. The location of this plant is along the River and I376, not far from the dying town of Beaver Falls. This plants has been listed as 5 years out for about seven years now.
I have to wonder if it will eve open up. When it does thousands 4,000 to 6,000 new jobs will be created..........someday Beaver Falls is the poster child for dying towns though. I read the state almanac once looking at trends and Beaver Falls scared me. Don't quote these numbers but it was in the neighborhood of 40,000 people in 1940, 25,000 by 1970 and about 13,000 presently.
Most all the homes from when 40,000 people lived there are still there........in very run down shape. I am not sure what these new jobs will look like or what they will pay. I am less than excited about doubling down in Beaver Falls in a bunch of $500 houses. I am not sure if this place is on the edge of a massive turn around or its all smoke and mirrors. Locally we had a huge shale push about seven years ago.........folks with acreage become shale-aires instantly. as quickly as that boom came - it went when gas prices fell.
What does the board think about the above scenario? I know David Lindell pushes for researching spots like this, but then again - I am not sure if he is in his 50's either. Who wants to go into part speculation on when or even if the Cracker Plant will ever be created. If Beaver Falls does get any smaller it just might be renamed NEville.
