We are taking a short trip to Kingston, Ontario, Canada during the July 4th weekend for three nights and also would like to visit Thousand Islands(day trip).
Is it a good idea to stay in Kingston and cross border to visit Thousand Islands? How many hours drive would that be.
I was wondering if someone could give some ideas about sightseeing in both places and reasonable hotel.
Thanks. --98.115.xx.xxx |

Maybe 6.5 hours from Stroudsburg, PA. Ganonoque, CA (thousand islands area) is about 20-25 min drive to Kingston, CA. Very nice area.i --73.195.xxx.xxx |

What Kingston, Ontario is known for is the large jail along with a military college. Be sure gas up before crossing as the price of gasoline here is a lot higher then in the Us. Multiply by 3.78 to convert to Us gallon. There are many chain type hotels and restaurants here which are the same as the Us. --216.123.xxx.xxx |

We held the 1976 Olympics for sailing there - Montreal was quite a haul to the main venue for the games. At the end of the races the British sailed their boat to the shore and lit it on fire and saluted it as it sank. You need to see the 1000 Islands by Boat to get the real feel. As a kid it was a real treat to get groceries and mail etc using the boat and not the car. Enjoy --96.61.xx.xx |

I did a Thousand Island cruise from Buffalo NY a few years ago. Kingston was beautiful. The "Town Crier" welcomed us into the port dressed in his regalia. Went to the military college and saw the prison from the outside. Enjoyed it. --184.2.xxx.xxx |
