I know there are some LLs on the fence and some who don't think they can get to Convention.

I would do ANYTHING to get around the winners. I slept in my car, ate crackers, peanut butter, and apples to survive. Washed my pits with paper towels and in the Interstate Rest Stop restroom. I've shaved at MANY MacDonalds.

You MUST get around successful people if you want to succeed. The attitudes and habits DO rub off if you are listening.

Wanna catch a cold, get around some sick people.

Wanna build wealth, get around folks who have done it.

There will be LLs from beginner to Mulit-millioniare sitting at the tables with you.

All you need is ONE spark, one idea, one casual comment from someone at lunch to light the fire inside you.

I'll never forget - one of the first big RE conferences I attended. A friend and I had grabbed a 4 seater table at the very crowded hotel restaurant. Along comes this guy, looking for a place to sit, whose name I recognized from the agenda. "I'm coming to your session later". He said "Great", looked at us strangely and wandered off. I could KICK myself! That was Lou Brown!! Looking for a place to sit and we had 2 empty seats!! We coulda had lunch with Lou! Yeah BA-BY!

At another convention I was standing in line in front of a mousy little couple. I wanted them to feel confortable so I struck up a conversation. Turns out he had 400 units!! This guy was not a mouse, he was a TIGER! just a quiet one. A few minutes of listing to him while we waited changed my whole attitude about my goals.

I've driven countless nights, thru the night, no sleep, so I could BE THERE when the winners were teaching.

I believe God is looking for our level of commitment. It's a test. Do you REALLY want it? Are you willing to pay the price? Are you willing to push aside the small stuff and negativity to grab the big stuff and success?

It's not too late. Call Jeffrey's office and grab a ticket. One year I watched him turn people away because they did not pre-register and the room was full. Wow!

Call in sick, drag the kids along (my kids spent LOTS of time pushing elevator buttons!). ZERO TOLERANCE - no excuse is good enough to miss. Do whatever it takes to get your sit upon in a seat and LEARN how to make this business SING!

BRAD

MY talk alone will be worth the trip!!

Brad is correct. My mentor was a guy that was 38 when I was 28. I would ride with him to collect rent on his 18 houses. He would tell me how much he cleared on each house. It was anywhere from $10 to $65. This was in 1967. His rents were all below $150.

I thought that was pretty neat, the tenants were buying him all those houses.! --108.196.xxx.xxx

We missed the 2009 Convention in DC - right in our own backyard at the time as we lived in Virginia - because I had a tenant emergency in NC. Had we just let nature take its course and gone to the Convention instead, I would not have spent the next year in continued misery over a multitude of bad tenant issues...

2010 was the turning point for us, we went to the Jacksonville Convention and changed our lives. Only 7 years ago - hard to believe!

By 2012, DH had quit his W2 job, we went full-time on this, and in 2016 we tripled his old income. And, after getting rid of some dogs, we only grew overall by 6 units!

4 more already in the pipeline for 2017...

As Brad says, FREEDOM! ;)

Go to the Convention. --173.22.xx.xx

In my opinion, one of the BEST parts of the convention is getting together with the other landlords, getting to know them, and sharing stories! Looking forward to Thursday! --76.189.xxx.xxx

"No excuses" was the theme from the St. Louis Convention 2 years ago: the first one I attended. Since going to that convention, my income has doubled. I think we could expand on the theme as "No excuses...only results."

Sure, life is busy, hectic, there's always something to do that seems more urgent. Example: Just got wind this morning that a tenant pulled a midnight move out on me this past weekend. I could stay and deal with clean up this week or I can go to the Convention. Which will clear me more $$$ in the long-run, possibly doubling my income AGAIN or screwing with a move-out/clean up for 4 days? Here's how I see it...

The rent raises I sent out last year after Jeffrey's inspiring talk more than paid for the cost of THIS year's trip. So as for me, I will be there.

P.S. I still have my "No excuses!" button hanging up next to my PC monitor...also "Make changes" from last year. --173.19.xx.xxx

We will come for the first time.

Taking our vacation days.

My husband scheduled 13 working shifts for 7 days in order to have 3 days off for the convention.

Can't call it FREEDOM, but looking forward to it! --70.214.xxx.xxx

Unfortunately, a prior commitment precludes my attending. I plan on doing so next year however. --64.121.xxx.xxx

Fun post.

I want to add. It is easy to read Brad's stories of not having money. We hear stories like this every other day it would seem.

But did you catch how Sid described your busy life? Too busy to go? Too busy to help yourself?

If you wait till you realize you must make changes and improvements you will be waiting too long.

They are calling you now, words of experience are waiting.

Have a great time!!
