I don't do it, but I don't object. It's like makeup...do it if it makes you feel better. It washes off or out.

And I did use to color my hair red, trying to match my out- of-nowhere red-haired child. It faded out.

I have a less forgiving attitude to tattoos, which are permanent. So your racist hating a$$ can't hide from my eyes.

I have grey hair! I love it!

My hairdresser refers to it as my natural highlights! I correct him all the time and say, "You mean my grey hair!" Like when have I ever been sensitive about it!

The new funky color trends are tempting! But I'm getting an orange truck! Grey haired lady in an orange truck. That's enough attention for me. --173.170.xxx.xxx

It's just hair. A lot of the colors are temporary for a special occasion. When the KC Royals won the world series in 2015,lots of people used royal blue hair color to show their support. I think some put pink in their hair in support of breast cancer awareness. It fades or washes out easily. In high school, I had my hair colored dark red, and when it was first done it was purple! I was the last one to ever want much attention-I would have liked to stay invisible.

I wouldn't like my kids dying their hair, but if I had to choose it beats other funky things that are permanent. Some employers are strict about those things.(tats, piercings, etc) They can undo funky hair color in about an hour. If it's something permanent you won't be able to just erase it or let it grow out.

You want a tattoo? Get a henna one. Want a piercing? Try a fake one. Do those first for a long while and then see what you think. I doubt it will have the same magic. --136.32.xxx.xxx

When I got my quarterly magazine from my undergrad college they had a photo of a woman on the cover with multi color hair and she was labeled as the 2020 graduate. I thought it was trashy looking and trashy of them to promote that.

So if a person is 15 and wants to do that on the weekend and mom doesn't care, then go ahead. But a college level person who wants to be a professional should not have multicolor hair. The artist tenant on the second floor of my cute cape cod had blonde hair when I rented to her. Then her hair became jet black. Then one week it was green. But she paid her rent on time. She left to get low income housing in the town nearby where she worked. She was a good tenant. I would not hire someone with multicolor hair. I think it shows a tendency to act out and try to get people to look at them. I don't know who that attracts but I don't want that in my units. I would find a way to reject that applicant. I took someone with a sleeve tattoo and the first thing he did was bring in a huge Goth girl who smoked and it was non smoking so out he went. --73.33.xxx.xxx

It's a current fad, and seems harmless to me. My daughter, who recently got a job as a tech reporter for a well-known national magazine, was invited to NYC to meet the headquarters staff. Two days before she went on the trip, she dyed her hair a weird peachy pink color. I was horrified, but the trip seems to have gone fine in spite of her hair. Better temporary hair dye than a permanent tattoo! (Unfortunately, she has a couple of those too.) --24.130.xx.xx

I would rather see colored hair than all sorts of tattoos, body parts hanging out of clothes, piercings other than one or two in an ear lobe. A while back we talked about buying dirty jeans for $400. It is all a fad, and doesn't hurt me since I am not required to do it, so who am I to judge.

Looking back at the bell bottoms, flowered shirts, fringe and long straight hair with a head band that we wore in my youth... who am I to judge. --108.44.xx.xx

Live the Dream, you post about purple hair made me remember my mother. She always wanted to make her gray white hair blonde. Finally she got it to be that color somehow. She lived to be 94 and died of brain shrinkage in hospice care done by myself and some nurses. When I saw her in her casket, her hair was beautifully styled, but the dumb hairdresser had made it purple because "she couldn't get that awful yellow out". Sad eh? I bet my mom was really annoyed. I told them off and they won't be doing that to me since I will make sure I go elsewhere. --73.33.xxx.xxx

When I was a kid my dental hygienist had pink, or blue, or teal...hair, depending upon the day (I am in my mid 60's). I'm too lazy to dye my grey and brown hair except when it is temporary and part of a costume. It is relatively harmless. Some dyes have harmful chemicals, but the unnatural colors are no more harmful than the natural tones. It is a current fashion fad. Fun. Who cares. --134.228.xxx.xx
