I had a property management company handle a rental for me and they evicted a tenant and received a judgement in their name. I have since fired the PM. How do I assign the judgement to myself for collection? Do I need an attorney to draft something then send to the courthouse? --99.182.xx.xxx |

The PM company would have to assign the judgment to you. You can't just take it over. --166.137.xxx.xxx |

Right--but how do you do that? Do you have an attorney draft something that they sign and then what is the next step? --99.182.xx.xxx |

In other words I don't trust this company to send me the funds or even try to track down the judgement. --99.182.xx.xxx |

An attorney can prepare an assignment of the judgment and you can have the manager sign it and file it at the county --24.25.xxx.xxx |

Assignments are state specific and to some extent county specific. I found some templates online that were probably ok, but the lady at the court clerk office rejected it because it was unlike any that she had seen before.
At that point I had my attorney write one and I copied it in a word file so as to use again. --72.172.xxx.xx |

just curious how much is the judgment ? is it worth going after --184.206.xxx.xxx |

Its always worth going after. Our state won't let us garnish wages but this chick is young and someday she may want to buy a house. This PM is sleazy enough to get paid and not pay us. --99.182.xx.xxx |

Never had a property manager, but why is the judgment in his name to begin with. --24.243.xx.xx |
