I have been working on my quad over the last few years replacing windows during vacancies. On the front of the building are four picture windows with small single hung windows on each side of them in the same opening. I know alot of this is regional but anyone have any thoughts on how much it would cost to replace them? These are pretty big so I would be looking to have someone else do them. I have seen the $189 specials but they say any size double-hung and obviously that won't work in these large openings.

Why not replace them with three larger double hung windows to fill the space. The picture windows always look so dated to me and double hung windows allow for more fresh air and less being able to look in.

Large opening think about a slider, if you have mullions use single hungs on the sides, Pella sells at Lowes for 130. --76.188.xxx.xx |

Provided there is an adequate header for the entire opening, I would go with2 or 3 double hung windows that are mulled together. --72.93.xxx.x |

Another vote for three double hung. I had one changed like that this winter. Looks fine.
Being a 4 plex, I supposed you'd want all units to match, though....

I've just NOT don't anything with those windows. Nice vertical blind on the inside. Tenant's love a light sunny home, the next you go there, every blind is pulled down tight. Not sure why. Are you wanting to improve the outside look of your building. look up and down the street and see what the neighbors have done. A window person will give you several options. They know their stock and what looks good. --184.206.xxx.xxx |

These are single pane metal frame 1950's windows. They need to be replaced for sure. --74.215.xx.xxx |

Yeah! A triple in that space. And the header would be fine. Shouldn't be that costly.Just do one at a time,so it looks different,so what?.............Charlie.............................................. --174.199.xx.xx |

Picture windows are generally cheaper than single or double hung windows. If the picture window gets too big though, then you shift to a commercial grade glass and then the prices spike. --24.239.xx.xxx |
