Hello I am currently living with my husband in an Cook Inlet Housing Authority Senior apartment based upon our current income, etc. The rent is ridiculously high for Senior Housing. We applied to the ASHA elder program rental housing program so we could afford to live in a one bedroom apartment. What types of background checks are done-how many years back? And as far as credit goes, how will that affect our possibility of getting in to the Alaska State Housing Authority elder housing program for reduced rental opportunities? Here in the province of Ontario the housing authority is rental housing as a last resort where generally some do not run credit checks where the non-profits run credit checks. Try to get a reference from one of the housing managers that rent is current along with a tenant reference that you keep the rental unit clean along with not having issues. The previous apartment building had a arrangement with the housing authority where half the rent was paid from the housing authority then the other half from the tenant.
