State Specific Question About: CALIFORNIA (CA)

Happy 4th Everyone! Haven't had to use this site in awhile (Yipee!) but my renters moved out and now I am looking for new tenants again. My question is: I have an older couple who claim he has VA benefits of $6000 per month ( which I have not verified yet) she has no income. Their 17 y.o granddaughter and 12 y.o grandson live with them. He has recovered from cancer recently, related to smoking, so health is not the best. When they came for the showing he walked in then left shortly. The wife and granddaughter stayed. The granddaughter did all the paperwork. The Grandmother referred to her as her secretary. I'm concerned should he pass away what kind of income would the grandmother have? Will the spouse still get the benefits? I'm also concerned about the granddaughter filling out the applications? IDK why grandmother didn't do it. She speaks English clearly and talked the whole time.

One more question. Should Grandpa start needed things in the home for health reasons such as ramps, bars in the bathroom is this something as landlords we have to provide at our expense?

Thanks for all your help!

My hubs is retired Army and if he passes the only money benefit to me is a survivor's annuity and that would be roughly half of what he gets now.

Prospect should get you a copy of the award letter and bank statements showing the monthly deposit.

I have not idea about the ADA requirements, but as a vet I would think that the Feds would assist with any retro fits. --76.238.xxx.xxx

Attached is a copy of the 2016 disability benefits for veterans. A 100 percent service connected disability can be significant. This can be quite a bit higher if the veteran is service connected for a spinal cord injury. These benefits are not taxed.

In addition, there came be additional retirement annuities and other pensions that can be acquired so yes, it is possible that your applicant receives this amount.

P.S. In certain cases, the VA will provide ramps and handicap access to homes and rental properties.
