Suppose you can ask ? Who broke the blinds ? --66.87.xx.xxx |

Often tenants buy their own blinds. Sometimes one can pick up blinds at some of Habitat for Humanity restores for a reasonable price or there may be a Ikea store in the area. Rental housing providers have many other expenses like having the central fire alarm inspected and tested every year along with replacing faucets, boilers, water heaters, tiles, appliances if provided with rental unit. Light bulbs, blinds and curtains tenants supply.

Why don't you just buy your own and then you can
take them with you when you leave ? You can also
clean the dirty ones with a wet rag and gentle cleaner.

My tenants usually get 10 to 15 years use out of blinds. What's going on ? --66.87.xx.xxx |

Sunday,
Only 27 months???
Even the $5 cheapo blinds last for years.
Grab a damp rag and wipe down each slat.
Or take them into the shower and rinse them off.

The blinds in my personal home are 15 year old. None of them have broken, and they aren't dirty.. My wife actually cleans them, and even the rest of the house every couple of weeks. You coluld clean the ones there. You would be suprised at how things will clean up with a little spray cleaner and an old rag. Who broke them? --96.226.xxx.x |

You should ask the person who broke them or is responsible for cleaning the apartment.
Sounds like you have a very bad housekeeper. --73.40.xx.xx |

I'm confused, were they broken and dirty when you 1st rented the apt? We provide clean working blinds as a courtesy so tenants dont use newspapers or sheets as window coverings but our tenants are welcome to replace then using the same installed brackets anytime they choose. --108.49.xxx.xx |

Really, you only got two years of use out of them? That would not be normal wear and tear in my book. Take them down and give them a bath. Voila, now they are clean. As to broken, who broke them? Are the slats broken? --70.16.xx.xxx |

The landlord could assist with this for a nominal fee, or factor it into the next rent increase. Focus on getting it fixed and keeping it clean. The cost is minor.

Sunday. bishop, your post says an enormous amount about you. Perhaps you should forget about the Sunday bit and concentrate about cleaning your abode. We have lived in this house since 1973 and the blinds are as clean and in working order as July '73. You have a lot of soul searching to do,besides a lot of other things.Phew? ... If you are the tenant & you have created this issue (vs them being that way when you moved in)-- you need to pay for new ones. Not landlords responsibility to clean/maintain for you.
Landlord- have tenant pay for if you supplied them with new, clean, unbroken blinds!
Not expensive. --160.3.xxx.xx |

Landlord-- if you replace items that tenant has obviously broken/not maintained you will be setting a precedent that they can call you to replace... say... lightbulbs when they go out..
I would replace & charge them for IF it's that bad. --160.3.xxx.xx |
window blinds (by Robin [WI]) Posted on: Jun 29, 2016 11:26 AM Message:
I see that after 27 months of living in your apartment, your window blinds are dirty and broken, and your carpet is dirty. Since those items are bothering you now, I suspect they weren't that way when you moved in. That means that you dirtied the carpet, and you broke the window blinds and failed to clean them.
Landlords provide housing and maintain things that break due to normal wear and tear. Broken window blinds and dirty carpet after just over 2 years is not normal wear and tear. You're responsible for both, unless housecleaning is part of your lease.
If I had a tenant expecting me to clean the carpet that HE dirtied and replace the blinds that HE broke, I'd do it, but I'd bill him for it, and I'd invite his entitled person to move out at the end of the lease. --65.25.xxx.xx |

The customer is always right.......
And the customer is the person who will have to pay for all goods and service.
I can do anything you want done....as long as you are willing to pay for the service. Likewise, tenants who are less hands on, get less attention when I am pondering who and when to raise someone's rent.
So where I encourage valid repair calls, a couple of invalid ones can be costly to the tenant. --72.23.xxx.xxx |
