State Specific Question About: PENNSYLVANIA (PA)
Wondering if anyone knows if I can draw the line on number of people in a unit, i.e. is it '2 per bedroom' or something like that. Or if a family with 11 kids wants to rent my 2br place am I not allowed to deny based on number of people? Thanks. --98.114.xxx.xx |

I think the standard is 2 per bedroom plus one so with 11 kids plus one or two adults could be a safety-health issue. Some places use a per square foot requirement per person. --108.196.xxx.xx |

Be careful of consumer protection laws like MGL 93A in my state. Our mobile home community rules listed occupancy guidelines verbatim with local ordinances and even deferred to them in an event of a conflict.

One can get a copy of the town bylaws regarding property standards and occupancy loads. Most towns it is two per bedroom. Overcrowding can leave to serious consequences. The plumbing and flooring will wear out faster along if there is serious fire where there is loss of life then one is in serious trouble. In a third world country things are different then a first world country. Some people need a single family home with four bedrooms.
