I have a tenant who broke their lease this year. I know I could take them to court, get a judgement, and hope to get some type of payment in the future, but I really just want to report them to credit agencies and move on.
What is the process to do this? Any suggestions?

Scott,
People break leases every day. No biggie.
That's why my lease includes an Early Lease Termination Fee which gives ME some income to cover the unexpected re-rent costs.
In MY court I can sue for the ELT fee.
Once I have a court judgment it will show on their credit report.
Revenge is a bad motivation so don't let this eat you up.

As I recall TX does not allow wage garnishment, so it is that much harder to collect on debts. You can use the service on this site to report the debt to the credit bureaus with or without a judgment. And they now offer collections services too, so they will pursue the debt for you and just keep a portion of what they collect. --50.129.xx.xxx |
