Would Allure be a good product for a concrete basement floor? If yes, should I put something under it for dampness?

The Allure that is going on sale for $.99, is it vinyl?

Is it possible to use this product on the staircase leading to the basement?

I'm between projects and thought I would finish my basement.

Allure, the grip style isn't the best for basement floors as it can cause failure of the glue seams from the perpetual moisture wicking up through the floor. This is what will be on sale.

Allure Ultra is suitable for basement floors as it has interlocking joints similar to laminate. It is considered suitable for basements (and unheated camps).

There are matching stair treads available online for allure, but they are pricy. If you go to the picture pages and look for Brad 20K's photos of his stairs you'll see an alternate method for stairs that looks pretty darn good, IMO. --64.223.xxx.xx

I stopped at Home Depot today and talked the flooring specialist into giving me some insider knowledge about the Allure Black Friday sale. At first he was hesitant to, but when I mentioned that I wanted to buy new kitchen cabinets but wanted to be able to get something that would look decent with whatever color Allure would be on sale he let me know that (at least at my local store) it would be Cherry. Yay... I was hoping that would be it! Oh, and I would have been getting the unfinished oak cabinets regardless... haha!

I also checked out those stair treads that match the Allure today and they are pricey... starting at $50 a tread! And I am still not sure how it would work for the top step into the hallway because those treads still looked taller than the actual Allure, so not sure how to install without leaving a dangerous lip. And since - for several reasons - I don't want to use a metal transition strip-style edge - I think I will just put cheap carpet on the steps and in the upstairs hall and the rest of the place (1200 square feet or so) will be the Allure. It should look sharp when it is completed. Yay for Black Friday sales! --74.141.xxx.xxx

I plan to pick up some allure for my remodel. What's the difference between Allure, allure plus and allure ultra? --75.128.xx.xxx

Allure - Black Friday? (by Nellie [ME]) Posted on: Nov 18, 2014 6:54 PM
Message:

Regular Allure is the grip strip style, where each piece glues to each other with overlapping edges.

Allure Plus is also grip strip, but has beveled edges, imitating the look of prefinished hardwood.

Allure Ultra connects together using interlocking joints much like laminate flooring. It has a thicker wear layer and longer warranty. --64.223.xxx.xx

Share with me... those of you that bought last year what the process was and the best way to make sure I get the allure. I'm planning to do several houses.

Do I need to be there when the does open with a trailer or better to have it delivered.

It's it in store purchase or online

Thank you --66.87.xx.xxx

Last year I was way behind buying the allure.... I went in the following Tuesday and they still had 2.5 pallets for the same price.

I bought it then and picked it up the next day. I could of had them deliver it but I was in town anyway. Great exercise! --216.69.xx.xx

Stores may not be willing to be your storage facility as you slowly use your stock a few boxes at a time. Let me explain why.

When you make your purchase the boxes are put onto a pallet, shrink wrapped and put into the overhead. To put it in the overhead one person drives the reach truck while a second person "spots" to ensure no one gets run over. While the pallet is put into the overhead two aisles are blocked off and the spotter watches the aisle on the other side of the overhead rack being used to be certain no one comes into the closed aisle and that nothing is pushed off the adjacent rack. This is just to put it up. (This initial step may be skipped upon purchase if you have a whole pallet and they are able to just tag your pallet.)

Now, when you come to get 10 boxes on your pallet of 20 boxes, the associates do this again, twice. Getting it down and putting it back up. Total time used can be an hour while two associates are tied up getting your partial order.

If you've spent much time in a HD you've probably seen this done, possibly been annoyed when you had to wait for an aisle to be opened.

So, as a heads up, your store may not be willing to put your Black Friday purchase onto a will-call. Allure may be only be available as a carry out.

As many have mentioned, it appears it will be available online for free delivery to your chosen destination. --64.223.xxx.xx

Thanks Nellie,

To be honest, I think we are going to overspend (a bit) on the remodel (newbie landlords). But that's okay, because we are not just doing this to be long term landlords but to see if we want to be houseflippers and or "developers ".

So if we over improve for the tenants, but it gets attention from buyers in the future., then it can still be worth it. Or just to have it in a portfolio of property renovations to show investors or banks, etc. ??

Fuzzy thinking? Maybe.

Demo starts tomorrow. I'll try to post some pics in the pictures section. --137.79.xxx.xxx
