State Specific Question About: TEXAS (TX)
I have a property that now has an Association. The owners that revived the association by a majority vote were not very nice people and tried hard to show that they had power over the rest of us. They did not always follow their own rules but yet enforced rules on the rest of us. They recently sold out and now they still manage the property for another owner. They now have a lawyer and are demanding $3000 claiming that the HOA is not following protocal, the rules... ironicly they are accusing the HOA of the very things they did wrong themselves. If they do not get paid in 30 days they will file a law suite. They are not a licensed Real Estate Agent, do they have to be in order to manage a rental property? Any ideas as to what we can do to make these awful people go away?
any advise would really help!

HOAs can create a very hostile environment for landlords. I recommend seriously considering if this is a long-term battle worth fighting. If not, sell. It is likely to get worse in time.
The management arrangement may or may not be legal, it really depends on exactly what they are doing. Are they collecting rents? Acting as an agent for the owner? Or, simply doing maintenance around the property?
