State Specific Question About: NORTH CAROLINA (NC) One of our tenants moved out over a year ago and left his storage building on our property. We've contacted him on many times to ask him to move it and we even offered to buy it from him but he tells us he does not have the money to move it and tells us it belongs to his mother and she did not want to sell it. What can we do with the building?

Not sure about now but in the future add a clause to your lease stating the all personal property remaining on the premises after surrender of the property belongs to the landlord.

If your lease does not cover this then, sent a registered letter that stipulates:A date unit must be removed by or it will be considered abandoned and will be removed from property and they will be billed for full cost of the removal.

Time to send a certified letter to the shed owner that you will be charging them rental for the space the shed takes up and also the additional tax and insurance burden.
We are charged for every structure/improvement on the property from the tax office so you have been paying for it to be there most likely. It could also be forfeit based on the wording of the lease agreement that all authorized and unauthorized additions/upgrades to the property become owned by the landlord. --23.123.xxx.xx |
