How do you do a credit check on a foreigner from France that is trying to rent in Washington DC as a student for a six month period? And what documents do I need to secure to protect myself and my property?

Foreign students need to have the F1 student visa to enter this country. To get that visa, they have to show the financial ability to be self sustain to the US consulate in their home countries. Most of the time, they either have a nice chunk of saving in the bank account or their parents make a lot of money. You may ask them to provide you financial paper that they used to get the visa.

Gut check may be better than a credit check.
