State Specific Question About: OHIO (OH)
I NEED TO KNOW WHAT AMOUNT YOU CAN DEDUCT FOR A PERSON THAT WORKS FOR YOU THAT IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL? IS IT $500? THAT IS WHAT MY TAX PREPARER SAYS. ALSO, WHERE WOULD I GET ALL THE TAX INFORMATION FOR RENTALS IN OHIO? --98.28.xxx.xxx |

I am not certain what your question is. You are required to file a 1099 for any person whom you pay $600 or more during the calendar year. --82.224.xx.xx |

To add on, the IRS does watch for persons who have declared a large amount for repair persons as an expense, but have not filed 1099s that add up to a fair amount of that. --82.224.xx.xx |

Are you asking about depreciation for your rental properties? If so you can check the county auditor's site - using the value of the structure - not the land and depreciate over 27 1/2 yrs. But check with your cpa. --174.252.xxx.xxx |

If you pay someone for services (individual, not incorporated) more than $600 per year, you must issue a 1099 for that person. If you list as an expense more than $600 and you did not issue a 1099, then you have gone on record as violating the law. Even if you do not list the costs as a deduction, you have still violated the law in not 1099ing the guy, but at least you have not provided the evidence against yourself to the IRS by listing the expense. --70.90.xx.xxx |
