State Specific Question About: TEXAS (TX)
Texas' new rules for eviction filings state a hearing on the eviction is to be held within 10-21 days of the filing. I have a hearing set more than 21 days in Bexar County. Is there anything I can do to move this up per the rules? --99.116.xxx.xx |

The 500 rules are new to everyone in Texas including the courts, you might gently point out the rule to the clerk to see if that helps. You don't want to upset the people making a determination.

In CA, there are time limits that require that the hearing be held within __ days. These are NEVER met in the courts I am familiar with. The Legislature can try to impose time limits on the Courts, but there are not enough courtrooms and judges and clerks to meet the deadlines. So they are not met. Nothing I can do about it.
I can tell tenants about the deadline, showing them the law, to make them think they are going to be rushed into court, so we should just resolve the matter without going to court. But I know that the deadline is meaningless.
