Hi everyone,
I have a Multifamily house with units on 3 floors and a common foyer and flight of stairs.
What would you recommend as far a home security, security systems and cameras, and monitoring services? Any info or experiences would be helpful. Thanks! --108.53.xx.xx |

Mark, Is there a specific problem you are trying to remedy?
Or just being proactive and safe?
Trouble with residents?
Trouble with "guests" invited or uninvited?
For inside each apt, several here like Simple Safe. $229.
In a metro area, I can see where offering an in-home system can be a huge selling feature.

I guess like all realestate answers, it depends. I have a 5 family that has one entrance for the tenants. 1 camera outside that looks at sidewalk and garbage pickups. 1 camera between two locked doors, covering mailbox. 1 camera after the second door, sees people coming and going. 2 cameras in my basement that covers my locked area
I have an 16 channel dvr that is hooked up to internet. The cameras that cover my locked area sends me an email if motion is detected. The others does not notify me. I pull up the cameras once a day to check for garbage (nyc fines start @ 100$) and never really check them. Only when there somekind of event I'll go back and check.
The harddrive holds about one month of video for me. I have a sfh with cameras too. One for the front, one for the back and one for a locked area. Two dvrs, one for me and one for the tenant. The tenant loves it. Because I put a monitor in the kitchen. Easy to check, and they leave it on 24/7.
This sfh is 130 miles away from me and the dvr gives me piece of mind and lets me double check my lawn care guy. He likes to bill me an extra visit every so often. I need to fire him.
Each camera costs me 65$, dome, high res, color. Dvr is 250-300 depending on hard drive. internet is $40-50/month. Each of these properties are in good areas, and never had a break in. --71.190.xxx.xxx |

With the cameras is the internet ability price due to having cable or satellite hooked up so they have access to the internet?
Simpli Safe looks very interesting also. --10.5.xx.xx |
