I used to own properties but sold them. And I'm relieved!!! I'm remembering however, some clever screening Q's I learned here to make sure the person wasn't using a fake reference. It's for a house cleaner for my mom who has Alzheimer's. Any suggestions? --71.188.xx.xx |

-copy of driver's license. Match up addresses.
-for sure: a spontaneous in home visit to HER house.
In this age of internet info, we forget to do the basics: eyes on, face to face.
-court records
-sex offender records
-property records: does her address match up with her LL and his reference?

Thanks Bill. Another checks and balances I have is my brother must be present whenever they enter to clean the home. Whoever I hire, they'll have to have him sign off on the date of service. I'm making it clear that if they dare come in without his signature, they won't get paid. It's too scary a scenario because my mom wouldn't remember who's been in her house one minute after they leave. --71.188.xx.xx |

Bill, my brother lives with her and if she were moved from her home, she'd be so angry...I'm afraid she'd die from frustration and being in an unfamiliar place. It would literally be the beginning of her end. Her home is the last place she moves about comfortably where she's secure and feels she still has control moving about. The cleaning personnel is for my relief. I clean, shop, do her laundry take care of her bills and make all her financial decisions, plus, I have grand children I care for, a pregnant daughter whose husband works full time AND is in school full time, AND a husband and my own household to run. My mom's home is the best place for her and we're not putting her away. But, thanks for your concern. --71.188.xx.xx |
