State Specific Question About: NEW YORK (NY)
Can I ask a friend to serve a notice to "quit or pay" to one of my tenants ? I would prefer not to have to hire an attorney to do the service. I see the forms online, but am not sure of the procedure.

Assuming you are Upstate,yes a friend can do the service,they will need to sign an affidavid and have it notarized, the courts expect an eviction to be done properly,they expect as much from you as an attorney,paperwork must be right and proper timeframes must be adhered to.Where in NY are you? --24.92.xx.xxx |
