State Specific Question About: KANSAS (KS)
Just wondered if anyone has any luck collecting money owed from tenant after getting judgement in court. How do you get the tenant to actually pay you? Do you have to go to collection agency or garnish wages? Seems like such a waste of time to keep having to go back to court for damages and money owed. --184.178.xxx.xxx |

Try garnishment if you know where they work. Look for them on Facebook. If they are 30 years or younger, almost guaranteed that they have a FB page...and are not smart enough to keep their employer secret.
Otherwise, I use Shaffer Collections in Columbia, MO. They do out of state work as well. No fee until they collect. I got a check from them last week. (smiles) Takes a while to get started...I turned over 7 judgments to them and it was 6 months before I saw the first $$$ begin to dribble in. Deadbeats are good at hiding. --108.250.xxx.xxx |

I am an eternal optimist. I like to think that someday these deadbeats will clean up their act and will be good for the money...that is why the judgement is good for 20 years, right? The Court Magistrates advice to me was :"Don't throw good money after bad". --24.177.xxx.xx |
