State Specific Question About: KENTUCKY (KY)

I have evicted some tenants because they were infected with roaches,we have been using boric acid for 3 weeks but we still find dead ones. How long does it take to get completly rid of them?

From experience, I have come to expect about two to three weeks, when I use Combat or MaxForce gel. Sorry I can't speak to the speed of boric acid.

Roaches are tough to eradicate quickly, because of the life cycle and all the eggs they lay.

My treatment method for a massive infestation is slow but seems to work. I use bug bombs, in quantity and in several applications.

The problem is that the time it takes for a newly hatched roach to reach breeding age and the time that a newly laid egg takes to hatch varies considerably from species to species. So the timing of the bombings is not scientifically determined.

I first turn off power from the main power box. This is because a spark can set off an explosion of the bed bomb cloud!

I then open up every interior door and every cabinet. I set off a LOT of bug bombs, at least two per room, and leave the place unopened for a week. Next, I go in a week later, sweep and vacuum up the dead roaches, and set off another bunch of bombs. Next, I go in a week later, sweep and vacuum the dead roaches, and set off a third bunch of bombs.

My idea is to kill all of the living roaches in the first bombing. I then kill all of the newly hatched roaches in the second bombing, before the newly hatched roaches have gotten old enough to lay any new eggs. Then, the third bombing should kill any roaches that were hatched after the second bombing. Generally, there should be no unhatched but viable eggs left after the third bombing, which is 14 days after any eggs were laid.

Then, a week later, I put down the Max Force gel.

This has worked for me in really heavily infested homes. The idea is that you need to break the cycle, to keep any roaches from reaching the age that they can lay new eggs.

I would just pay the $200-$300 and leave it to the exterminator. It is the amount of time it takes.

I had one 3 family, 1st floor infested, hundreds dead ones every day with the professional grade bait/gel (I did bomb by mistake, it doesn't work very effective and drive the roaches to upstairs from what I learned)

^^^ I hired an exterminator once for like $90, and watched him walk around with a sprayer using Ortho bug killer.

After that I bought a $12 sprayer and a $8.00 gallon of bug killer and walked around myself every few months with the sprayer.

Of course in the desert our bug problems are less than wet regions, but we have scorpions and spiders as well as big roaches that live in the public sewers.

Like Mkie45 said, I've found multiple applications, followed by periodic re-treatments stops bugs. If I had a roach infestation I'd probably add boric acid or gel for ongoing eradication.

Like Robert says, remove food and water sources.

roaches. Clear out any trash from the house, basement, garage. Bug bombs seemed to work well for a sister in law of mine when they bought an

old farm house. Then also do the max force gels and boric acid.

Make sure all around your outside trash cans are clean, sweep up

leaves ect, my exterminator told me roaches breed in leaves. There

Spray with Gentrol in addition to using bait.Gentrol also has stickons that are effective for 75 sq ft.Gentrol stops roaches from growing and reproducing.It's the best product I've ever used.
