State Specific Question About: OHIO (OH)
Does anyone know if we rent to someone on Social Security or disability if there is an issue in asking them to leave in the form of eviction?
I have someone interested in a unit presently.
I only do month to month leases.

Hi Judith....
Just as a note... SS is not a income you can attach....
So deposits are the key... --66.190.xxx.x |

Yes, you can evict him, it doesn't matter if he is on SS or disability, get a good Real Estate attorney. --96.25.xxx.xxx |

where I am, landlords can evict if a tenant is on social assistance, BUT it assistance payments can not be garnished.
Another difficulty is that these tenants can easily get free legal representation and evictions can take many months (with no hope of getting any money owed). --70.30.xx.xxx |

Almost universal problem trying to garnish assistance, so be sure deposits are all paid and damage bills are sent certified mail to prove existing damage bill is overdue.
Never put one of these on payments, they know you will lose and they win. --75.94.xxx.xxx |

You can evict,no problem. My experience for these people is they cash there check and get you a money order right away. They don't have enough income if you are strict on the 3x rule but if everything else checks out I will take them because they seem to get by somehow with only 1 1/2 or 2x the amount of rent as income --72.224.xx.x |

We can't garnish in NC anyway, so that's never a consideration for us. If their SS pays the bills, it's steadier money than half of my other tenants LOL! --50.82.xxx.xxx |
