In upstate NY,I do not know NY city rules but upstate assuming you won the eviction you need to have a warrant signed by the judge, some courts provide the warrant and some you provide a filled out warrant and the judge just signs it.Next thing is to take it to the sheriffs civil office, call ahead they need about 5 originals and payment usually in cash or money order, then they will serve it on the tenant and give them 72 hours to move on there own and if they don't they will make arrangements to meet you there to forceably remove the tenant and give you possession back. You need to find out ahead of time because some sheriffs will allow you to put the stuff on the curb and some require you to have a way to move it off the property and put it in storage at your expense.Where are you located? --72.224.xx.x

If the tenant does not leave then if one has the writ of possession then it is a trip down to sheriffs office. The sheriff will post a notice on the door or give to the tenant if the tenant comes to the door that after a certain period of time the locks will changed. Here the tenants will leave a day before the sheriff arrives leaving only garbage and broken furniture behind. Often problem tenants have been through the eviction process before. So the tenants will try to stay for as long as possible. Here the tenant has seven days to leave where on the six day they are gone when they receive a sheriffs notice. --216.110.xxx.xx
