Leasing Agent (by Greg [IL]) Posted on: Dec 21, 2012 7:44 PM

Does anyone use a leasing agent? What do you pay them? I am thinking of hiring a person I know who has been doing office work and leasing for another big time landlord in my area. The guy she worked for is getting out of the business. I just need someone to show the houses and collect the applications. I may eventually expand the responsibilities to handling most of my tenant communications (calling tenants for rent, taking phone calls for repairs, etc.) as i get more rental houses.I have discussed this with the prostpect person, but she doesn't know how she wants compensated. She was Salary for the other landlord (who had over 300 single family and a about a hundred appartment units). I only have 32 single family and only need her part time. Any thoughts on pay? --63.142.xx.xxx

I've been paid anywhere from $0 to $500 for finding a qualified tenant for landlords. Perhaps you can pay her a flat fee, give her keys and lock box codes, CL list ad's with photos and her phone number.

I show and accept applications, then turned the process over to the property owner. Hope others have experiences too. --107.26.xxx.xxx
