When bidding on a house what percentage should you bid on the cost of the house?

Depends on the condition, and location of the property. --98.253.xxx.xxx

It is more than just a percentage. as in said above, --condition, and location play an important part of offer. I have had some that I bid over the asking price, some at the asking price, and yesterday offered ightly less than 70% of what they were asking. Buy the deal-- not the price. --98.232.xxx.xx

Depending on how long the property has been on the market! Bank owned property gets reduced every couple of weeks. They start out high, at market rates, with defects in the property and continue to drop. I once held out for over 100 days and got a 40% reduction. --74.100.xxx.xxx

As the others have stated, depends on location and condition mostly, in my rust belt location it is easy to find one of the handiman specials lacking pipes and wires for 1000, remember what your skill set is making this a rentable property, and keeping it secure - some 6-7 years ago I delivered a hvac/furnace/copper plumbing into a house (thank goodness the owner was the one to lock it up and he paid for this material), the next morning when the owner came to the house the rear door was destroyed and the products we put inside were almost all gone, best to sleep with the big stuff and invite a friend if the area is bad. --76.241.xxx.xxx
