State Specific Question About: FLORIDA (FL)

I've heard of some landlords being permitted to require and record the applicants' credit card numbers on the lease application as assurrance that payments will be made. Is this really permitted in Florida and is using the card when rent funds don't come through allowed? I'd like to know since I had a troublesome five-day effort with a tenent trying to get his money out of his new checking account on time to me online; it took five days to get it right and it was ANNOYING and a waste of time. I had nothing to fall back on but to wait for it. It did come through. --72.46.xxx.x

Credit cards give the holder a option to contest a payment..

I agree about the contesting, but if the charge is legit the LL should win. HOWEVER watch out for PayPal. I've heard horror stories about them. I accept them for ONE tenant but stopped suggesting them to others. --173.27.xxx.xxx
