State Specific Question About: NEW JERSEY (NJ)

I went to court 6 weeks ago to evict my tenant. I won by default, but now he is trying to file an Order to Show Cause. How long can this postpone his eviction, assuming he can post the entire amount owed?

Thanks,

Gus

Count on him not being able to post the amount. It is just another stall to get a new hearing. Why is he still there after 6 weeks? Is this another NJ thing? I get the writ of restitution minutews after the first hearing. Out in 10 days tops. --174.130.xx.xxx

Our entire process takes 22 days and that includes a 10 day demand before we can file Even with an appeal they are out in 30. But I have always heard it can take forever to get possession up North. --173.188.xxx.xx

Of course I do not know NJ law, but if you won the eviction by default, then the judge would have signed an order for approval of that. What did the order say ? How to enforce it ? IMO he had his day in court to challenge the eviction, but missed. So, what exactly is his claim ?? You would have shown cause for the eviction in the original paperwork where the judge would consider and question you the plaintiff if there was anything amiss, and would not have granted the eviction order .... --24.192.xxx.xxx
