State Specific Question About: MASSACHUSETTS (MA)

I have signed up for your "Report Debtors" service. Once I fill out the information, send the letter, and upload the data, how do I update the amount owed each month. I am in the process of evicting a tenant for non payment and will need to update the amount owed for each month until they are removed via the court system.

Thank you,

Ralph --4.53.xx.xx

Why not wait until they leave and you have a total before reporting them? --76.19.xx.xx

The process is very slow for eviction in MA. Presently they are $6000 behind and I can see it approaching $10K before they are out. Showing the debt monthly on their credit report shows a pattern of non payment rather than a one time lump sum.

So my question is will I be charged the fee each month to upload the new debt? --4.53.xx.xx

I am sure that Dan will agree with me that you are correct the eviction process in MA can be lengthy especially in you are in Boston or Cambridge.

If your ultimate goal is to gain possession of this unit, I think you would be better served by waiting until they are gone & you have a judgement. If your present tenant's report shows a ding for non payment of rent, they are going to have a harder time finding a new place & will fight you longer. Other than allowing you to get a little instant gratification, I don't think you have anything to gain by monthly debt reports. --151.203.xxx.xx

I'd also be concerned of the tenant getting the judge to extend the eviction based on the fact that you appear vindictive by putting a blemish on their credit. Of course, I don't agree with that point of view, but I've been through enough evictions that I can certainly see the judge sympathizing with them and penalizing you for it. --76.19.xx.xx

Thanks for your input. The court date is next week, so waiting a little longer is no problem. --4.53.xx.xx
