State Specific Question About: SOUTH CAROLINA (SC)

The renter signed a lease and the rent was due on the 15th of the month. When prorating the rent do I calculate from the 15th of the month due or the 1st of the month due. --12.202.xx.xx

When I have a lease start on the 15th, I would collect a full month of rent prior to move in. Then on the first of the following month I would collect the prorated amount. To calculate prorated rent divide your monthly rent by 30, then multiply by the number of days from move in through the end of the month. --71.194.xxx.xxx

Best to get security and one month plus fees, as move-in money, then pro-rate the 2nd month up to the first - not enough saved? keep saving. --76.241.xxx.xxx
