State Specific Question About: NEW YORK (NY)
I have a 2 units apartment . Fully rented. However the upper tenants always play loud music and keep getting complains from the lower unit. What i should do? Wat action I am able to take and to which tenant? Thanks --12.133.xxx.xx |

Most rental housing providers serve a tenant a notice to cease the loud music and noise which end up with a eviction. If the tenant fails to correct the problem after a specific time then it goes to a eviction. Try to contact a landlords association in your area which will be able to help on the process on how to clear this problem. If the tenant continues to cause problems then the other tenant will move out. There are listings of landlords associations on this site where one select which is close to the area where the rentals are located. --74.220.xxx.xxx |

We make it clear going in that any noise escaping your unit is too loud and we will kick you out over it. We also do not allow "sub-woofers."
We have casino shift workers who sleep during the day so we have very little tolerance for noise other than normal living sounds. Cars starting, and occasional kid playing. Our places are not very kid friendly so the few we have are toddlers. --76.170.xxx.xxx |

Our lease says "Music, TV, voices, car engines, machinery should not be audible to the people living next door."
Give them a simple letter:
"We rec'd a complaint. Please lower the volume."
Don't be shy. Stay in control. --50.129.xxx.xxx |
