State Specific Question About: OHIO (OH)

Is a landlord responsible for for meeting the needs/requests of a tennant who has recently become handicapped? Such as a shower bar for a tennant who now uses a walker? --99.164.xxx.xxx

My understanding is that the LL must allow, and the tenant must pay for the accommodation and for returning unit to original condition upon move out.

I would - I just installed grab bars in high-end condo for tenant who hurt is foot. Owner says he will probably need it when he moves into the property in a few years. --184.5.xxx.xxx

Landlord is responsible for making a reasonable accommodation to tenants' disability, at tenant expense.

Grab bars in shower would probably fall into that category.

We are planning to install grab bars in every bathroom remodel, also lever style door knobs and faucet handles, and use pocket doors inside when ever possible. --66.196.xx.xx

Bill is correct, I like to do the install to be sure the bar is held into the good wood, tilt the bar downwards to the water wall as needed to match the studs. --76.241.xxx.xxx
