State Specific Question About: COLORADO (CO)

Do I need a legal notice from court to collect a bad debt after the eviction proceding went wrong, or should I just to report it, to the 3 main credit report with no legal notice. Also two people signed the lease debt owed $1500.00, How to split it, half per person or the whole amount per person. Thanks. --4.161.xxx.xxx

Many details missing but here's a stab at a reply:

Identify what went wrong with eviction. In many courts, the eviction and the debt are separate. Does this mean they did not show, or you lost, or case was is dsimissed?

You do not need a court judgment to ask for payment, but that's all you have- the ability to ASK.

Hopefully your lease says rent is owed "joint and severally" - that means each person is 100%. You do not have the right to manage their affairs, such as how they agree to split the rent between themselves. You must look at the leasees as ONE unit.
