State Specific Question About: NEW JERSEY (NJ) I recently had a tenant evicted in NJ. How do I make it known to landlords that they are at risk to rent to the?

Practically speaking in a populous state like NJ the dead beats have a lot to pick from and you can't reasonably expect to have much influence on them. The Eviction will show up on their Credit report and the LL's that carefully check such things will see it there. --99.151.xx.xxx

Note that in many states, evictions do NOT show up on credit reports. A money judgment hopefully would -- but JUST an eviction would not. So, unless NJ is different that most states, take what Reid just said with a grain of salt.

Did you get a money judgment along with the eviction? If so, does it need to be "registered" in your state to show up on a credit report (in some, it does; in others, it does not)? But, again, if you just got an eviction -- meaning possession back by getting them removed and not a money judgment too -- then it very likely will NOT show up on a credit report.

In that case, another LL would therefore need to do a specific eviction search in your state to be warned about him.
