State Specific Question About: DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA (DC)

I have a public housing tenant who is in violation on a few items on her lease. Her lease is up in a couple of months and I want her to leave. I have an inspection coming up o recieve my Basic Business License. Do I need my license before I can take her to tenant -landlord court? --138.162.x.xx

Unless nonpayment of rent is one of the lease violations, you would probably lose in court. Easiest way to get her to leave is to give notice that you are not renewing.

In Ohio I would not have to give a reason. S8 may want as long as 90 days for that notice. Other than that, if and only if you have a good housing authority and can take your complaints to them, you might get some action.

Tennie does not want to lose her free rent so wants to keep in good with S8. I know this is not quite what you wanted to here, but with S8 you are in a new world all to their own. --174.130.xx.xx

First things first, thanks for responding Gwen. Regarding your response how would I tell her I dont intend to renew the lease? Written? Telling housing? --75.198.xxx.xxx
