You have the credit report on the skipping tenant. Based on what you know, is it worth your time and money to chase him?
I learned a long time ago that I can get a piece of paper from a court that formally adjudicates that the former tenant owes me money, and the amount owed. That and $2 will get me a coffee. It is not attractive wallpaper, all it is is a piece of paper. It doesn't put any money in my bank acount or my pocket.
I rarely get much satisfaction from having put a negative entry on a former tenant's credit report. At least, not enough staisfaction to justify the time and energy and cost of putting that bad mark there by means of a court judgment.
So I don't bother. I just fix the place up and get a new tenant and move on with my business and my life.

What can you do? First, be glad you took a deposit and re-rent quickly. A little money in my pocket does wonders for my attitude.
Add up what they really owe, NOT considering the remaining months on the lease: upaid current rent, late fees, cleaning, repairs...
Then, decide if they are worth many hours of your life you'll never get back.
Probably not. Most skips are not collectible even if you find them.
Under $1000, I forget it and move on. I'll burn up that much energy beating my head against the wall, trying to make this frog dance.
If you want to pursue, get with your local assoc because IL has strange LL/tenant laws which lean heavily in favor of the tenant. You must find them AND they must have a decent job in order to get any money.
Start playing detective. Go back to your app and make calls to employer, emergency contacts, neighbors, RentACenter, utilities, etc trying to locate them.
Send a letter to the old address marked ADDRESS CORRECTION REQUESTED.
