Does anyone know where I can find the legal ratio of tenants to bedrooms in a single family home? We have a family of 6 kids and 2 adults for a 5 bedroom house. --192.35.xx.xx |

You'll want to check local code/statute for this, in general. There are some HUD guidelines (which I think are actually 2 per bedroom plus one), but they probably don't apply. So, it'll come down to state law (if there is one -- and I doubt it) or local city/county code.
In general, 6 plus parents in a 5-BR is probably fine. That would still mean that only two pairs have to share a BR and two kids still get their own BR. Shouldn't be a violation of any code, IMO.

How times have changed...when we were growing up we lived in a 3/1 apt. Boys had 1 room with 2 sets of bunk beds, girls had 1 room with 1 set of bunks & a twin bed & of course there was the parents bedroom.
A couple times during the year the half & steps came to visit bringing the kid total up to 12 at times. We would just double up, never a problem. Also don't remember ever having a clogged commode.
And now...just 3 of us & our kid has 2 of the 4 bedrooms and her own bathroom. lol --99.158.xxx.xxx |
