State Specific Question About: CONNECTICUT (CT)

The complaint was about a leaky faucet in the shower. I ordered the cartridge to fix the leak because to redo the whole system would mean to cut out the back bedroom wall to get to the pipes of the shower. Instead im just fixing the leaky faucet. Its a very old set but works fine. I was then was notified that the child there pulled the cord thats connected to the detachable showerhead and broke the brace that it sits in to hold in place. Now its a handheld showerhead. They are implying that a new system should be put in. If they caused it to break am I responsible for paying for a new system to be istalled? The problem with this kit is that it is obsolete these days. How do I handle this without creating any friction. --76.24.xxx.xxx

You opened the wall and did not protect it..

Same thing if you opened a hole in the yard and the kid fell in...

Neglect on your part... --67.163.xx.xxx

You don’t give much info such as brand or type. You ordered a cartridge so would need to know the brand/model. I am guessing you had something like a handheld showerhead. And the kid pulled the hose hard and broke the bracket. If so, even a new one is not designed to have that done to it.

If yours was already cracked or weak then you pay. Otherwise they pay since sounds like kid was trying to hang from it.

Then charge for a new bracket. May not be but so obsolete if you found the cartridge. Or can adapt a different showerhead.

If it is almost obsolete using a cartridge it is prolly a Chicago which is wonderful stuff because you can convert to washerless by simply replacing the whole cartridge - they are not cheap compared to the Moen but this company has a foothold in commercial plumbing fixtures and it is unlikely you will need to do anything for 20 years once you go washerless. --76.241.xxx.xx

Is the bracket that holds the handheld shower piece attached to a threaded pipe that comes out from the wall? If so, unscrew it from that pipe and buy a new one...I like the WaterPic ones myself...clean off any old pipe dope or tape and wrap several turns of teflon plumbing tape over the pipe threads before you install the new shower head.

If that bracket is not detachable, then yeah, you have a lot more work to do. --67.224.xx.xxx
