State Specific Question About: MARYLAND (MD)

I have new tenants who received a citation after only one month for dumping their trash without any trash cans. Aside from buying them trash cans (PM bought--I paid for) I wrote the tenants a letter about the importance of proper trash disposal to avoid rat and other infestations. At a recent inspection I found those cans are overflowing. What recourse do I have? Tenants don't seem to 'get' it and I'm not about to buy more cans for their trash. Is this cause for eviction if they don't change their ways? Even if they don't care, I don't want rats in my property! --69.251.x.xx

Get your power point presentation ready with charts and graphs and explain things to them in terms they can understand (LOL)Tell them what you expect from them when you expect it to happen and the results of their failure to comply with your instructions then carry through, --99.72.xxx.xxx

"If this situation continues, we will have to remove the excess trash at a charge to you of $100 per occurrence."

BTW - when you evict, they will take your new cans!

Let the city give them a citation. But knwo that they won't pay and it will probably come back to the property owner. --67.175.xx.xxx

In my city the tenant has to pay for trash pickup, each additional bin had a montly charge. If your tenant needs more bins, then have them order an extra bin or give them a 3 day notice to move. --173.55.xxx.xxx

Have you mentioned recycling paper and cardboard boxes? those items consume a lot of space and use up a lot of trees. --99.160.xx.x
