State Specific Question About: MISSOURI (MO)
How do I get a judgement for back rent from tenant I have filed eviction on? Eviction hearing has past and been continued pending alias. I filed abandonment letter and will be taking possession of house this way. Is that a problem?

You can't get a judgment for back rent unless the person is served. Most of the time it is with the landlord's petition or unlawful detainer.
However, it also can be done later with a small claims case. Again, though, you have to have service to get a money judgment. Most deadbeats know how to avoid service.
Having a private process server is more likely to get you service and a trial. --64.12.xxx.xx |

You want a money judgment, you gotta serve 'em.
I presume your case was passed for alias because you have no service.
