we are trying to refinish furniture for a baby nursery. I thought I could use the Zinnsser as the primer after deglossing with TSP, but the primer says it can't be used with TSP. So what primer is best?

I doubt it was "real" TSP that you used, as around here, it's not loger available.
Try painting some on the bottom, and if it doesn't stick, you'll know not to use it.
A light sanding will help, too. --99.32.xx.xx |

Are you using the better zineer oil base primer? --71.246.xxx.xx |

I once contacted a Zinsser representative to find out exactly why TSP couldn't be used. The only reason they could give me was that without adequate rinsing there "might" be some residue of the TSP that would make it difficult for the primer to stick. Gail. --68.47.xx.xxx |

I washed a whole apartment with a couple TSP washes (20yr tenant, smoker, booted when I bought property), and a halfhearted sponge rinse, Kilz stuck just fine. Is there any huge difference between Zinnser and Kilz?
(Hope I never have to do that again, BTW). --132.13.xx.xx |
