State Specific Question About: MARYLAND (MD)

Looking for reasonable company to replace five slider windows in gaithersburg md. Not certain if $500 per window installed is reasonable. Thank you. --173.79.xx.xxx

Hi, I am usually a lurker here, but thought I would respond to this. Not sure how big your windows are, but we just replaced 5 in our rental. Our windows are fairly small 48" x 36", but we paid $100 a piece from them at Home Depot. They are replacement windows and were custom made to our dimensions. We installed them ourselves, very easy, so we paid $500 for 5 windows. I would check with HD or Lowes to see what they offer, $500 per window seems very high to me. --152.26.xx.xxx

Just to add, ours were sliders (open side to side). The original windows were pop out and they were awful. Not sure why anyone would put that type of window in a house. No others on our street have them. --152.26.xx.xxx

Another possibility for you. Window World has a office showroom in White Oak Mall in Silver Spring, Maryland. They have windows custom made and installed for $200-300 that services your county --208.94.xxx.xxx

Be careful on replacing windows. Depending on when your rental was built. Many built in 1973 and earlier around the windows there is lead paint.

So you need to be RRP certified and company certified. Use RRP safe lead practices.

500 per window is a lot. My handyman charged me $100 per window on the house I live in, and they were difficult windows to replace.

Make sure caulking is good to prevent water intrusion and mold. --148.87.xx.xxx
