State Specific Question About: VIRGINIA (VA)
Hello all,
I rent a room in my house to a man. He is consistently late with the rent. His lease expired in July. He has just paid of August rent and has not paid me for September. He is avoiding me and I told him I wanted him out. Because he is non-paying and his lease is expired shouldn't I just be able to put him out?
thanks --70.182.x.xxx |

You should, but you can't. You have to file for eviction. See the Landlord/Tenant state Laws link at the top of this page for info on how to do it. You may have to hire a lawyer who specializes in evictions.
If it was me I'd offer him $50 bucks to be gone by Monday. --65.12.xxx.xxx |

You should not be renting a ROOM in your HOUSE on a lease.....allow them to be a roomer that you can remove under innkeeper laws.
Suggest he take whatever money is available for your Sept rent and move by the 1st of Oct --64.12.xxx.xx |
