State Specific Question About: VIRGINIA (VA)

I need a good accountant in the Prince William County or Washington, DC area that really understands property management. The one I currently have is just not getting the job done. Any recommendations? Thanks, Diane --68.49.xx.xxx

Not rocket science unless you are just not liking what you are being told by current CPA * and you SHOULD be using a CPA * not an "accountant" --64.12.xxx.xx

Well, I think for him it is rocket science. He is a CPA, but he doesn't seem to be very organized. Thanks for your input. --68.49.xx.xxx

We've used CPA's for the past 7 years; 2 to be exact. We just discovered this year, they both were dumb as rocks as far as investment property was concerned. --98.183.xx.xx

Guess you just need to find the right one. Some might believe I am disorganized, but it kind of goes with the work load sometimes .... However, you do need to be comfortable with your selection .... --96.27.xx.xxx

Diane:

You are looking for recommendations for CPAs in your state and probably your region, probably very few on this national forum. You probably want to pose this question to a local landlord association membership - you should likely get quite a few recommendations that route .... --207.238.xxx.xxx

I am currently taking the classes to become a CPA. Here in TX I have to have a certain number of accounting hours to become one. I technically don't have to take ANY tax classes, but most people enrolled in a degree or certificate course would probably take 2 tax classes. Frankly, I don't think these 2 tax classes alone should be considered a very strong qualification to do investment property taxes.

Therefore I question whether you really need a CPA, as I think many accountants who don't have a CPA license but who do have a real estate background may be more qualified. --99.174.xxx.xxx
